Our December 2019 Event: A Christmas social with language professionals

The last event of the year, the final event of the decade was dedicated to networking, chatting and getting to know each other while enjoying a drink or two.
We started with structured networking: We all sat down at a round table and everyone got the chance to introduce themselves in 30 seconds. The intro pitches were timed to give us all feedback as to when the 30 secs are over. It really is not an easy task to nail such a short pitch, but it was nice to have the chance to learn and experiment in a supportive and informal environment.
The introductions were followed by social networking and drinks where we really had time to get to know each other. We got so much into it that we only remembered to take a few photos when the first people started to leave, and that was well into the evening 🥴 …
If you know a budding photographer who’d be happy to join us in Central London every once in a while in return for a drink, and their contact details shared on our website, please refer them to us. As you may know, our social events are non-profit, the proceeds go to purchase a drink for the attendees and what’s left from the budget goes to Moorfields Eye Charity. So there’s no budget as such to pay for a professional photography service, but if there’s someone out there who’d welcome this opportunity perhaps to build a portfolio, we’d love to have them on board.
Thank you so much to everyone who made it to the final social event of the decade, and while we are at it, it’s also time to thank the community for following the initiative closely, for showing up whenever their time allows and for contributing to our lively discussions.
A massive thank you to all our wonderful speakers, trainers and hosts over the past year and a half who contributed to the growing community by their warm hospitality and by sharing their wisdom so generously.
We’ll be back in 2020 with a fantastic programme line-up, so stay tuned!
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas. See you again in the new year.
