Our August 2018 Event: Our first social with language professionals

On the last Wednesday night of August, this lovely bunch of fellow language enthusiasts met at the first informal Language Professionals Networking Event.
We talked all things teaching, coaching, translating, interpreting, AI, and of course our challenges and successes working as a language professional in London.
Many of us work as a freelancer and we found that we missed a platform where we could meet in a supportive environment, chat, connect and converse with each other. It was exhilarating to hear many different yet similar perspectives on working as a linguist and very refreshing to do so in an informal setting.
We got a lot of supportive messages from other fellow language professionals who couldn’t make it this time but expressed their strong interest in following our work and participating at future events.
This was the first event of its kind, super laid-back and very informal.
In September, we return with a set programme:
– 6.30pm: Arrival
– 7pm: Welcome by the host (moi)
– 7.10pm: Presentation by a fellow linguist, 30 mins
– 7.40pm onwards: Networking
Date: Monday 24th September.
Venue to be announced soon. And speaker to be revealed shortly – hint: it will be an award-winning voice-over actress.
